<pre data-block="statement"> The first ten adhyāyas carry the ordinary, repeating worship of the Vedic year. Adhyāyas 1–2 give the NEW- AND FULL-MOON rites, and with them the Veda's very first words and the taking and releasing of the vow. Adhyāya 3 gives the AGNIHOTRA, the daily fire-offering, and the four-monthly Cāturmāsya — which is where the Tryambaka mantra stands. Adhyāyas 4–8 carry the SOMA sacrifice from the purchase of the plant to the session's exalted close. Adhyāyas 9–10 give the VĀJAPEYA and the RĀJASŪYA, the royal rites. Twelve of their mantras follow. Watch for a pair that frames everything: the vow is taken with "from untruth I go to truth," and released with "I am he who I truly am." </pre>
