<pre data-block="statement"> Here the Vājasaneyi Saṃhitā rises to its philosophical summit. Adhyāya 26 is the KHILA, the supplementary mantras — and opens with a declaration about who the Veda is FOR. Adhyāya 30 belongs to the Puruṣamedha and carries the great Savitṛ prayer. Adhyāya 31 is the PURUṢA SŪKTA in its Vājasaneyi form — twenty-two mantras where the Ṛgveda has sixteen, with six that exist nowhere else. And adhyāya 32 is the SARVAMEDHA material, whose opening verses are among the most uncompromising statements of the One in all Vedic literature: "That alone is Agni, That is Āditya… of Him there is no likeness." Thirteen mantras follow. This is where a Veda of ritual turns, without changing its voice, into a Veda of knowledge. </pre>
