Chāṇakya Nīti
From Chāṇakya Nīti — The Verses of Practical Wisdom, taught by Acharya T Krishnatrey. This lesson is free to read.
Twenty-three centuries ago, a shrewd teacher named **Chāṇakya** toppled a dynasty, crowned an emperor, and built the first great Indian empire — then distilled his hard-won understanding of people and power into short, sharp Sanskrit verses. The **Chāṇakya Nīti** is that distillation: a handbook of **practical wisdom (nīti)** on trust, money, learning, family, and adversity. This course is **verse-led**: every chapter teaches through the original Sanskrit ślokas — each given in Devanāgarī, with word-by-word meaning, translation, and commentary — because the verses themselves, memorable and metrical, ARE the teaching.
Recite and understand 23 authentic ślokas of the Chāṇakya Nīti in the original Sanskrit Translate each verse word-by-word and explain its practical teaching Apply Chāṇakya's tests — of friends, wealth, places, and self — to modern decisions Distinguish the historical Chāṇakya from the compiled Nīti tradition Read anuṣṭubh metre well enough to memorise verses by sound
