What these mantras cover | The Upaniṣad's famous teaching of SYNTHESIS. Mantras 9–11 deal with vidyā (knowledge, worship of the divine) and avidyā (works, ritual): pursuing either ALONE leads to darkness, but one who joins both crosses death by works and wins immortality by knowledge. Mantras 12–14 repeat this pattern for the "manifest" (sambhūti) and the "unmanifest" (asambhūti): worship of either alone misleads; together they carry one beyond death to the immortal. The message is balance, not exclusion.
