Its Bhuvanakośa ("cosmography") argues, verse by verse, that the Earth is a round globe hanging unsupported in space, that beings stand on it from every side, that no chain of "supporters" is needed — and, in its crowning verse, that the Earth holds things by its own force of attraction (ākṛṣṭi-śakti): gravity, some five centuries before Newton. It also treats spherical trigonometry, seasons, eclipses and instruments.</pre>
