<pre data-block="statement">What this chapter covers | The fourth and final pāda (34 sūtras) is about LIBERATION. It explains the sources of attainments (4.1), how the mind is coloured by past impressions (vāsanās), and the metaphysics of perception — how the seer (puruṣa) is distinct from the seen (4.15–24). It describes the yogī's action, which binds no more (4.7), the dawning of discriminative knowledge, and the exalted "cloud of virtue" samādhi (dharma-megha, 4.29) from which the afflictions and karma cease (4.30). It closes with kaivalya — consciousness resting free in its own nature (4.34). A few example sūtras follow.</pre>
