Its Tenth Canto inspired the poetry of Sūradāsa, the Gīta-govinda's world, countless paintings and the rāsa-līlā performances of Vraja. It shaped bhakti movements from Bengal to Maharashtra to the south. Few books have so shaped a civilisation's inner life.</pre>
