<pre data-block="research">Around 770 CE the Brāhmasphuṭasiddhānta was carried to the court of Baghdad and translated into Arabic (as the "Sindhind"); it shaped the work of al-Khwārizmī, whose name gives us "algorithm" and whose book gives us "algebra". From the Islamic world the Hindu-Arabic numerals and zero reached Europe, spread by Fibonacci's Liber Abaci (1202). The zero on which all modern computation rests traces, through this documented chain, back to Brahmagupta's India.</pre>
